A self taught artist, born London 1948, currently living in Australia.
I started drawing as a small child and wanted to pursue a career in art but growing up in the 50-60's made making that a reality very difficult.
Science was my other love so I trained as a medical researcher and through my working life worked in hospitals and once in the pharmaceutical industry.
I continued with art in my spare time painting with acrylics for over 30 years in my spare time, dabbling in graphite and watercolours, but somehow never felt very at home with these mediums.
Once I retired from work I decided to pursue the things I'd always really wanted to do and I tried several different crafts, ran on online craft designing business for several years, and I submit images to a photographic agency. I found myself thinking more and more about art but wanted to try something different.
In Feb 2016 I came across Ann Kullberg's web site. Coloured pencils? I was blown away by her sheer talent and was amazed at the realistic quality of her work. I couldn’t believe that coloured pencils could produce such astounding works of art.
So I read and researched and discovered a whole new world of art. So much incredible talent too! I have tried most Artist quality pencils and soon realised how different they all are, the same with papers too. I really love this medium and can fully understand other artist’s enthusiasm and passion for it. I have done some commissions and I mainly draw animals.
Ann Kullberg critiqued my work in her Colour magazine in August 2017 and I was featured in her Hidden Treasures book in 2017.
